Overview
Approaching from the West, the Lemosho route is one of our highly recommended routes. The first three days of the ascent are quiet and relatively untraveled. The route then joins the busier Machame trail and follows the Southern circuit to Barafu Camp. A wonderful route in terms of scenery, it offers unequalled views over the majestic Shira plateau. At 5730 metres, Crater Camp is an almost untouched and unvisited wilderness, and is a fantastic option for climbers who are confident that they acclimatise well.
What is the Success Rate of Climbing Kilimanjaro on the Lemosho Route?
The success rate depends on the number of days you spend on the mountain. For all operators combined, it is estimated that 6 day Lemosho climbs have a success rate of about 60%, 7 day Lemosho climbs have a success rate of around 80%, and 8 day Lemosho climbs have a success rate of about 90%. Our success rate for 8 and 9 day Lemosho with crater has historically ranged between 90-95%.
