Marangu day tour with The Vicmos Tours & Safaris involves going up to the first camp Mandara hut (2720m) and coming back via the same route on the same day. There is a drive about 45km from Moshi town, which will take 45-minutes and 2 Hours from Arusha Town. At Marangu gate, we will do park gate formalities before starting our hike after all logistics are done our climb will officially start with three to four hours walking to the Mandara encampment.
For those who don’t have the desire or the time to climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, our Mandara Hut Kilimanjaro 1 Day Hike Short Tour will give you the opportunity to experience a small but spectacular piece of this awe-inspiring mountain.
We will pick you early from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha at around 08;00 am/hrs and travel straight to Marangu Gate to start your Trek up Mount Kilimanjaro.
You will follow the Marangu Route also known as the ‘Coca Cola’ route. Starting at the Marangu Gate, 1860 m above sea level, your hike begins to ascend through dense forest along a small stream.
3 to 4 hours hiking will take you to Mandara Hut, 2700 m from the base of the mountain. From here you can enjoy a short walk to the rim of Maundi Crater (a remnant of a volcanic vent) which offers glorious views of Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks on a clear day.
You will have time to take in this natural wonder, whilst having a picnic lunch before descending back to the Marangu Gate.
After an amazing experience exit the park around 4:30 pm and start the drive back to Arusha town, or Moshi town or Kilimanjaro airport for flight back home or Arusha for your fight to Zanzibar
