Track wild chimpanzees on foot in Tanzania’s only two chimpanzee-trekking destinations — Mahale Mountains and Gombe Stream, both on the shores of Lake Tanganyika. Gombe is where Dr. Jane Goodall began her pioneering research in 1960; Mahale offers a larger, wilder forest wilderness with white-sand lake beaches.
