Overview

Mikumi is the closest major national park to Dar es Salaam by road, making this the most straightforward and budget-friendly of the safari-and-beach combinations. A short overland transfer replaces an internal flight for the safari leg, then a quick hop to Zanzibar for the beach half of the trip.

Day 1
Hotel Pickup in Dar es Salaam → Drive to Mikumi
Road transfer to Mikumi National Park (approximately 5 hours). Arrive in time for a late-afternoon game drive across the Mkata floodplain, known for its Serengeti-like scenery and tree-climbing lions.

Overnight: Vuma Hills Tented Camp or Mikumi Wildlife Camp. Or Something Similar.
Day 2
Full Day in Mikumi National Park
Morning and afternoon game drives across the floodplain, spotting elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and Mikumi's well-known lion prides.

Day 3
Drive to Dar es Salaam → Fly to Zanzibar
